Geneva Lois Shelton Gentry

Geneva Lois Shelton Gentry was born on Dec. 6, 1930, in Killingsworth Cove, Madison County.

She married Winston H. Gentry on June 8, 1945.

She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter and granny.

Geneva was also a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years.

Geneva loved her family and having them near her. She loved family camping and fishing trips.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mattie Lou Morring Shelton; her father, Joe Shelton, and stepmother, Thelma Shelton; son, Joe H. Gentry and daughter, Elaine Gentry Headley.

She is survived by her husband of almost 70 years, Winston H. Gentry; daughters, Shirley Emfinger of Jemison, Linda Cobb (Johnny) of Jemison, Carol Hance (Jimmy) of Shelbyville, Ky., Kelly Goodman (Bill) of Brandon, Miss.; daughter-in-law, Sandra Gentry of Jemison and son-in-law, Doug Headley.

Geneva was wonderful “Granny Gentry” to 13 grands, Rusty Gentry (Karen), Byron Gentry (Heather), Jamey Emfinger (Amanda), Sharon Williams, Chase Headley (Willona), Mandy Frye, Ashley Spencer (David), Jonathan Cobb (Lyn), Jennifer Bordelon (James), Daniel Lawrence, Kayla Goodman, Casey Goodman; 21 great-grands, Justin Jill, Jennifer, Dakota, Brooke, Shelby, Kelsey, Caitlyn, Kaley, Jayda, Katelyn, Ashlyn, Colby, Clay, Addison, Colton, Kallen, Kenzie, Cadence, Alyssa and Mason.

Friends were received May 25 from 5-8 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel.

Services were held May 26 at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Jemison at 11 a.m. with the Rev. David Hand and the Rev. David Swafford officiating.

Interment followed in the Midway Memorial Cemetery.
