Thorsby’s annual Movies in the Park series held at Richard Wood Park will begin Friday with the film, “God’s Not Dead.”

The movie is sponsored by Thorsby First Baptist Church.

Organizers of the event released the lineup Wednesday morning of movies to be shown this summer which include:

•June 5: Ribbet (sponsored by the Town of Thorsby)

•July 3: Where There’s a Will (sponsored by Ellison-Cleckler Funeral Home)

•Aug. 7: Step Dogs (sponsored by Chilton County Probate Judge Bobby Martin)

The movies, which are organized by the Thorsby Fire Department, are free to anyone who would like to come watch.

Laura Liveoak, who helps with the event, said in the event of inclement weather, a movie would be rescheduled until the following Friday.

This year is the first time the movies have not been shown every Friday, but will take place on the first Friday of each month in June, July and August in addition to the May movie.

“The community really needs to support this if they like having stuff like this,” Liveoak said. “The sponsors also need to know that people appreciate this. In the past we have had the movies every Friday, but this year they are spread out a little bit more so we hope the community will come out and support the event.”

The movies are set to begin around dark, which Liveoak said should be around 7:45 p.m. or 8 p.m.

Attendees of the event must bring their own blankets or lawn chairs.

Liveoak said light refreshments would be sold.
