The Chilton County High School softball team ended its season at the South Central Regional Saturday with two wins and two losses in the series.

The Tigers had a promising start to the tournament with a 3-0 win against Hueytown.

Coach Clark Watley was optimistic after their first win.

“We have a lot of things working for us going into our next game,” Watley said. “Our defense definitely looks great.”

Hannah Oaks got the win on the mound for the Tigers, keeping the Hueytown bats quiet for the full seven innings of play.

“I just tell myself I’m in practice,” Oaks said. “We’ve gotten a lot stronger as a team. We pick each other up.”

CCHS took on McAdory Friday night in its second game of the tournament, losing 3-2 and falling into the loser’s bracket.

The Tigers took on an uphill battle as they tried to fight their way through the loser’s bracket, clinching a 6-2 win against Pelham Saturday morning.

The Tigers fought against the heat and a tough Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa team in their final game Saturday, which ultimately put them out of the tournament.

Though CCHS outscored its opponents 13-10 for the tournament, the Tigers’ defense was unable to silence Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa’s offense in the 5-2 loss that sent them home.
