Two Clanton residents were arrested last week as a result of a drug bust led by the Chilton County Sheriff’s Department.
Cristin Rae Pierce, 22, and Matthew Joseph Sorrells, 34, who both list an address on County Road 461 in Clanton, were arrested Feb. 5 on multiple drug charges.
Pierce was charged with chemical endangerment of exposing a child, manufacturing a controlled substance in the first degree, unlawful possession of marijuana second degree, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia (felony) and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia (misdemeanor), according to the sheriff’s department.
Sorrells was charged with chemical endangerment of exposing a child, manufacturing a controlled substance first degree, unlawful possession of marijuana second degree, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia (felony) and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia (misdemeanor).
Chilton County Sheriff’s Department Lt. Rocky Mims said deputies responded to a DHR complaint of child endangerment in reference to narcotics at the home.
Authorities obtained a search warrant and discovered drugs in the home including three ounces of marijuana and six grams of “hash/THC concentrate,” Mims said.
Mims said the street value for the marijuana is close to $200 and the street value for the hash is about $50 per gram.
Authorities also obtained three weapons from the residence.
Hash/THC concentrate is extracted from resins from the marijuana plant leaves.
Both Pierce and Sorrells have posted bond in the amount of $206,500 each and have been released from the Chilton County Jail.
The two have preliminary hearings scheduled before Chilton County District Judge Rhonda Hardesty on March 3 at 9 a.m. at the Chilton County Courthouse.
