Six arrested on drug charges in Clanton

Six Clanton residents were arrested on drug charges recently.

Deandre Shamar Jemison (29 years old), Darion Sanchez Parker (26), Jamaris Parker (32), Ricardo Donell Parker (30), Terry Dewayne Parker (38) and James Marquise Worthey (28), all of Clanton, were charged with possession of marijuana first degree, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to Clanton Police.

A concerned resident gave police a tip that drugs were being stored and sold out of a residence off Liberty Street in Clanton.

While visiting the residence and attempting to make contact with the owner, officers observed illicit substances through an open door and window, according to a press release.

Narcotics Detective David Kline responded to the scene with a search warrant. About half a pound of marijuana, about 26 grams of cocaine and drug paraphernalia were recovered, according to the release.

The suspects were arrested on the scene.

“Illegal narcotics are a major problem in our city, which requires a combined effort to combat,” Kline said. “I want to say thanks to our officers for their quick response and hard work as well as the West End community for their help and support of our officers.”

All suspects except Deandre Jemison are scheduled to appear in front of Judge Rhonda Hardesty at 9 a.m. Feb. 10.

Jemison’s court arrangements were not immediately available.
