Isabella softball standout Kacie Adams announced her intention to continue her career at the collegiate level at Judson College in a ceremony held in the IHS auditorium on Jan. 29.

Adams said she signed with the Eagles after attending a tryout and falling in love with the program.

“When I went and tried out with them, I just really liked how he ran the tryout,” she said. “I liked how safe I felt on the campus, and that was pretty much it.”

In addition to being impressed with the softball program, led by head coach Lee Jones, Adams said she was drawn to the campus of the school.

“The campus was really pretty, and I just loved how it looked,” she said. “They always told us that if we needed, security people would just come and walk us to class.”

Jones said he felt the Eagles were getting a strong player in Adams, both in terms of natural ability and work ethic.

“She came down and tried out, and I really remember well (how) she hit the ball pretty good, but I liked her at first base,” he said. “She’s left-handed, and has good hands, and threw well. I think she’ll have a pretty big impact on us quickly.”

Jones was also quick to point out Adams’ hard work extended past the softball field and said he felt her academic prowess will help her in her time at Judson.

“I think as highly recommended academically as she comes, she’s not going to have any problems having to go to study hall or anything like that. What I know about her, she’s very dependable.”

While Adams still has her senior season left to play with the Mustangs, she said being able to know her career will continue past high school was a great feeling.

“It feels amazing,” she said. “Ever since I was 3, I’ve been playing, and I always thought that it would be great to continue on (playing in college). To finally be able to sign with a college, it’s the best feeling ever.”
