Chilton County boys pounce on Bears

The Chilton County boys basketball team dominated Billingsley, 70-42, on Tuesday, in an effort to bounce back from a difficult loss to Calera Jan. 16.
The first four minutes of the game were fast-paced.
Chilton County’s JeQuaries Martin put the first two points on the board but was quickly outdone by Billingsley’s Derek Stoudemire with a three-point basket.
Chilton County managed to climb ahead, 5-3, only to be outdone again by another Billingsley three-point basket.
The Tigers then went on a 9-0 run to firmly take control.
The Bears fought back, outscoring Chilton County 10-5 to end the first quarter down, 19-16.
Billingsley’s Isaac Green scored a two-point basket to start the second quarter, pulling the Bears to within a point of Chilton County, 19-18.
However, this was as close as the Bears came to the lead. Chilton County closed out the second quarter by outscoring Billingsley 18-6.
The third quarter saw much of the same from the Tigers.
Chilton County had a 15-2 run through the middle of the quarter until Billingsley was able to match Chilton County offensively.
Chilton County outscored the Bears 21-10, ending the quarter ahead, 58-34.
Chilton County firmly controlled the ball throughout the fourth quarter.
The Tigers slowed the pace of the game in an effort to bleed the clock to solidify their win. The Tigers outscored Billingsley, 12-8, to end the game, 70-42.
Austin Hatch (22 points) was Chilton County’s lead scorer. JeQuaries Martin (14), Devin Austin (11), Keaton Sullivan (six), Tyler Henderson (six), Austyn Ray (five), Kylan Zeigler (four) and Keishun White (two) also contributed to the Tigers’ big win.
Derek Stoudemire (18 points) was Billingsley’s lead scorer. Isaac Green (six), Rashaud Caver (five), Jarrett Acreman (four), Terrance Nolen (four), Jaytarius Steele (three) and Joseph Nixon (two) also contributed.
