Government offices in Chilton County will be closed Monday, Jan. 19 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

The Chilton County Courthouse, as well as Clanton City Hall, Jemison City Hall, Maplesville Town Hall and Thorsby Town Hall will all be closed for the day.

In addition, Chilton County Schools, Jefferson State Community College Chilton-Clanton campus and Chilton Christian Academy will all be closed.

The Thorsby Town Council’s regular meeting has been moved from Monday to Tuesday, Jan. 20 at 6 p.m. Jemison City Council has canceled its meeting, with the next meeting taking place Feb. 2. at 6 p.m.

In addition, residents of Clanton are encouraged to put their garbage out on Sunday night, as pickup will begin shortly before 6 a.m. on Monday.

Trash pickup in Thorsby has been moved back a day, with Monday’s routes being serviced on Jan. 20, and Tuesday’s routes to be picked up Jan. 21.
