FROM STAFF REPORTS
The Clanton Advertiser recently named former Shelby County Reporter sports editor Drew Granthum to a staff writer position.
Granthum comes to the Advertiser after serving in the sports editor position of its sister paper from April 2014-Nov. 2014. Previously, Granthum served as the sports reporter for the Reporter from May 2013-April 2014.
Granthum, a native of Montgomery, graduated from the University of Montevallo in May of 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in mass communications (with a dual concentration in broadcast and print journalism). He received his Master’s degree in English in December of 2013, also from Montevallo.
While new to the staff writer position, Granthum is no stranger to the area. He previously served as an intern at the Advertiser from January 2011-August 2011, and again from June 2012-August 2012.
“I’m looking forward to being back,” Granthum said. “I never really forgot Chilton County, and the opportunity to return in a full-time role was one I couldn’t pass up. I’m really thankful to the Reporter for the chance to work there, and I’ll miss the friends I’ve made there. That said, I’m pretty excited about returning to where I got started in the business.”
