Gobble Hobble to benefit family at Lomax church

A 5K run hosted by Lomax Assembly of God is intended to benefit a family in the church.

The Gobble Hobble will begin at 8 a.m. Nov. 22 at Clanton City Park (208 Hoyt Brownie Road in Clanton).

Registration costs $25 per runner and can be completed here.

Proceeds from the race will benefit the Bradford family, which is in need after Damon Bradford sustained injuries in a wreck that have prevented him from returning to work.

The wreck occurred in the early morning hours of Aug. 12, as Bradford was returning home from an overnight shift at work.

The injuries sustained in the wreck necessitated a 23-day stay in the hospital, and Bradford has been unable to return to work or drive, leaving the family, which includes three children, without a sufficient source of income.

“We strive daily to be good stewards of all that God has blessed us with,” Damon’s wife, Christina, said. “Because of all the circumstances that are involved with this wreck it has taken help from our friends and family to get through even the smallest tasks. No words can describe the sincerity of our hearts for those who already have and who will be a part of this healing process.

“There are so many different obstacles that we still must face before we will see complete healing. The hardest thing for our family is finding a ‘new normal.’ Regardless what we face, we will still praise God through the storm and strive daily to bring Him glory. In moments like this we are thankful for our community and most of all our church family. They have rallied with us and continue to encourage us daily. We have not faced this alone.”

Registration for the Gobble Hobble begins at 7 a.m. Nov. 22. A free 1-mile “fun run” will begin at 7:30 a.m., and then the 5K will begin at 8 a.m.

The run will begin around the youth league football field at Clanton City Park and follow the pathway under Highway 31 and over to Goose Pond Park, then back to the youth football field to finish.
