A single-vehicle crash Tuesday claimed the life of a Selma man.

Daniel Ryan McDowell, 20, was killed when the 2006 Nissan Titan he was driving left the roadway and struck a tree, according to a release from Kevin Cook with the Alabama State Trooper Public Information/Education Unit.

McDowell was not using a seat belt.

The crash occurred at 8:16 a.m. on Alabama Highway 22, five miles west of Maplesville.

Nothing further is available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate the incident.
