Jean A. Houston

Jean A. Houston, 89, of Thorsby, a lifelong resident of Chilton County, passed away Oct. 24.

She was born April 15, 1925, in Clanton, to Horace L. Aldridge and Odessa Permesia (Allen).

She married Robert Quinton Houston of Stanton on June 21, 1946. He died Nov. 13, 2004, after 58 years of marriage.

Houston joyfully served as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and was associated with the Clanton Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

She found great joy in glorifying the word of Jehovah, our Creator, by teaching the “good news” of the now established heavenly kingdom to “those rightly disposed to everlasting life,” (Acts 13:48; Matthew 24:14), and learning about all of God’s wonderful creations.

She was a loved mother, grandmother, aunt and friend.

She was a homemaker. She loved her family greatly, her pets and beautiful flowers.

She is survived by her daughter, Judy Houston Cruz (Angel) of Thorsby; grandchildren, Jonathan Cruz (Mericia)of Thorsby, Joanna Davis (Corey) of Thorsby, Jessica Jeffcoat (Chris) of Clanton; brother, Rex Aldridge of Robertsdale; a special nephew; Gary Aldridge of Thorsby and her beloved six great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Nov. 1, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2301 Yellow Leaf Road, Clanton, 35045
