Northside Baptist Church

On June 29, we met for worship, followed by Sunday school. We had congregational singing for all ages and the children sang all the verses of “Jesus Loves Me” and “God Is So Good” with the adults joining in as well.

Offertory music was a patriotic medley of songs as we turned our thoughts to the upcoming Fourth of July celebration. Bro. Zack Bates preached a message on the dangers of forgetting God, with text from Deuteronomy 8:6-14.

The warning God gave to the Israelites still applies to us today as individuals and as a nation. True freedom comes only by the blood Jesus Christ being applied to our hearts and souls as we repent our sins. America has forgotten God and departed from God’s word and the biblical principles on which our nation was founded. Let us return to him while there is still time.

The Sunday school study was taken from the book of Proverbs. We learned how true wisdom comes from God. As we live our daily lives, we are to seek after God and his wisdom, and not trust in our own understanding.

On Sunday evening, we met at 5 p.m. for food and fellowship. Once again, we were reminded in the message that we live each day by the power of God’s Holy Spirit. The apostle Paul wrote about his struggles with the flesh. If Paul struggled with sin in the flesh, then what makes us think we will not? We have to surrender daily to God’s will and crucify our flesh.

On July 6, we enjoyed a great time of worship on Sunday as we sang praises to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Pledges to the American flag, the Christian flag and the Holy Bible reminded us of our Christian heritage in our nation and of the loyalty and love we should have for our God and country.

Bro. Lynn Roe and his wife Kelly were our guests and blessed us greatly with singing and preaching of the Word. Kelly sang a beautiful song for our special music, and then Bro. Lynn preached a sermon titled “The Lost Christ.”

His message focused on how we Christians have lost Christ in our daily living. The effect of no Bible reading, no prayer life and no church attendance has resulted in Christ being lost, so to speak, in our lives.

This does not mean that the saved have lost their salvation because as saved people we are sealed by the Holy Spirit and have lost our salvation. We can however loose the joy of Christ. We can lose our zeal and desire to serve the Lord. Most of all, we can lose our compassion for the unsaved.

Have you lost a burning desire to see souls saved? Do you and I care that men, women and teenagers are dying and going to hell every day? God help us as the church to be about the business of winning the lost.

If you are looking for a small church setting with a big heart for the lost, come join us at Northside.
