Chilton County High School’s varsity volleyball team is still looking for its first win of the season after Thursday’s 3-0 (25-21, 25-13, 25-10) loss to Marbury.

Sophomore Kaley Lucas picked up multiple kills in the first set as Chilton County (4-0) clawed its way to an 8-5 lead.

Jump for it: Chilton County’s Dana Kelley (No. 28) and Adrianna Shavers (30) block a Marbury shot during Thursday’s match.

Lesley Harton took over serving duties for the Tigers to lead a 3-0 run to extend the lead to 11-6.

Trailing by four, 20-16, Marbury went on a 6-0 run to take their first lead of the set, 22-20.

The Tigers picked up one more point in the set, but the Bulldogs earned the set win, 25-21.

The Bulldogs led the second set of the match from the opening serve by beginning the set with a 3-0 run.

Another Lucas kill set up the Tigers with serving rights as Chilton County fought back to within one point of the lead at 6-5.

The one-point deficit would be the closest the Tigers could get to the Bulldogs as Marbury cruised to a 25-13 win in Set 2.

Marbury started Set 3 much the same as the previous set, with a three-point run to put the Tigers in a 3-0 hole.

Facing a one-point deficit, Chilton’s Erica Powell aced Marbury to tie the score at 5-all.

The tie wouldn’t last long as the Bulldogs went on a 4-0 run to take a 10-6 lead.

Another six-point run for Marbury put the set out of reach of the Tigers, as the visitors picked up a decisive 25-10 set win to bring the match to a close.

Lucas had five kills, Anna Mims had three aces and Johnna Robertson added eight digs for Chilton County.

The CCHS junior varsity team lost earlier in the day 2-1 (25-14, 26-29, 15-13) against Marbury.
