After a 30-minute rain delay and the game ending two minutes early due to darkness, Chilton Christian Academy couldn’t overcome Cahawba Christian Friday night with a final score of 28-13.
The first home game of the season opened up with a touchdown by the Chargers in the first four minutes of the game.
Junior Nick Haube scored the only two touchdowns for the Patriots during the second quarter for a score of 14-13 at the end of the first half.
After a two-minute halftime due to a rain delay, the Patriots failed to score as the Chargers took control of the game.
“I think we played good tonight despite one of our starters who was unable to play in the second half due to a migraine,” CCA coach Thomas Lyon said. “He played the first quarter, but couldn’t come back, so I think that hurt us.”
Lyon, who is the team’s new coach, said he is optimistic the defense for the Patriots is starting to come together.
“We have a lot of young guys this year,” Lyon said. “We need to work more on playing together, but I appreciate the hard work and effort these guys put into playing tonight. We will learn and get better from it.”
