John Walter Hayes Jr., 73, of Sylacauga, passed away Sept. 3 at Coosa Valley Medical Center.

He was a proud U.S. Army veteran who served during the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife, Juawana Hayes; sons Danny Wayne Hayes (Debbie) and Walter Lane Hayes (Felicia); daughter, Tracey H. Duffee (John); grandchildren, Cody Duffee, Caleb Duffee, Dawson Lane Hayes and Danielle Lynn Hayes; brother, Earl H. Hayes (Audrey).

Visitation will be held at Sept. 5 from 5-8 p.m. at Curtis and Son North Chapel.

Funeral services will be Sept. 6 at 11 a.m. at Curti and Son North Chapel with the Rev. Anthony Christenson officiating.

Burial will be Evergreen Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Marty Barnett, Thomas Barnett, J.C. Bullard, Darron Hayes, Les Harrison and Charlie Brown.

Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel will direct the services.
