Jim Burnett

The Rev. Jim (Pete) Burnett, 68, of Billingsley, passed away Sept. 3 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster.

He was born on June 21, 1946, in Chilton County, the son of the late Luther Thomas Burnett and Ethel Leola Robinson Burnett.

He was the vice president of Standard Taylor Industries.

He is survived by his wife, Myra M. Burnett of Billingsley; sons, James Karl Burnett of Billingsley, Jimmy Burnett of Billingsley; daughters, Sonya Norman of Billingsley, Sherry Villa of Prattville, Terry Hadden (Ronnie) of Jemison; mother, Ethel Burnett of Clanton; brothers, Paul Burnett (Linda) of Clanton, Johnny Burnett (Jackie) of Jemison, Kelly Burnett (Nina) of Clanton; sisters, Linda Bussie (Larry) of Clanton, Deborah Kee (John) of Clanton, Karen Barr (Donald) of Clanton; six grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Luther Burnett.

Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Sept. 5 at Martin Funeral Home.

Services will be held Sept. 6 at 1 p.m. at Bethsalem Baptist Church with the Rev. Oneal Cleckler and the Rev. Charles Brooks officiating.

Interment will follow in Bethsalem Baptist Cemetery in Billingsley.
