A Clanton man pleaded guilty to manslaughter Wednesday in a 2013 murder case in Prattville.
Richard J. Tyus, 21, of Clanton entered the guilty plea before Judge Sibley Reynolds in Autauga County Circuit Court.
Tyus was indicted in January on murder charges in the 2013 death of Brian Bernard Bristow, 28, of Marbury, according to court documents.
Reynolds will sentence Tyus on Oct. 29 at 9 a.m. in Autauga County.
Tyus and Bristow attended a football party Sept. 30, 2013, in the Pink Lilly community, when they became involved in an argument, Chief Deputy of the Autauga County Sheriff’s Office Joe Sedinger said at the time.
Tyus stabbed Bristow, Bristow survived the attack, but later died Oct. 24, 2013, Sedinger said.
It was the only homicide investigated by the Autauga Sheriff’s Office for 2013.
Tyus was originally charged with assault in the case, but the charge was later upgraded to murder by a grand jury in Autauga County.
