Irene Glasscock Porter, 78, of Jemison, passed away Aug. 14 at UAB in Birmingham.

She was born on Aug. 17, 1935, in Shelby County, the daughter of the late Wade Glasscock and the late Georgia Ann Bice Glasscock.

She was a homemaker.

Surviving are her sons, Allen Porter (Janet), Kenneth Porter (Terri); daughter, Anita Owens (James); brother, Fred Glasscock; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Bunion Porter, father, Wade H. Glasscock; mother, Georgia Ann Bice Glasscock and brothers, James, Reuben, Eugene and Gerald Glasscock.

Friends will be received from 12:30-2 p.m. Aug. 16 at Thompson Chapel Church.

Services will be held Aug. 16 at 2 p.m. at Thompson Chapel Church with the Rev. Mark Bolton and the Rev. W.T. Cleckler officiating.

Interment will follow in Midway Memorial Gardens in Jemison.
