A Calera man suffered minor injuries in a single-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon on County Road 33 and U.S. Highway 31 in Chilton County.

Alabama State Troopers are continuing an investigation of the crash, which occurred shortly after 2:30 p.m.

Jonathan Hawkins of Calera was driving a 2006 Suzuki when it crashed, according to Alabama Department of Public Safety Public Information/Education Unit Sgt. Steve Jarrett.

No other details were immediately available, but Jarrett said the crash is under investigation.

Jemison Fire Chief John Dennis said Jemison Fire Department’s emergency transport system was dispatched on the call, which originally went out as a motorcycle and a pickup truck.

Dennis said when JFD arrived on scene, they found it was a single-vehicle crash and Hawkins was transported to Shelby Baptist Medical Center for minor injuries.

“It appeared the driver of the motorcycle was turning and lost control when he hit a patch of gravel,” Dennis said. “There were no other vehicles involved.”
