A 26-year-old female pleaded guilty on Monday to two counts of sexual abuse of a child less than 12.
Christy Dawn Brooks, 26, who lists an address in Montevallo, appeared in court Monday morning in front of Chilton County Circuit Judge Ben A. Fuller.
Brooks stood before Fuller wearing a dark-green jail jumpsuit with chains around her wrists and ankles and pleaded guilty to two charges of sexual abuse of a child less than 12.
Brooks was arrested in September 2013 and later indicted in February by a grand jury on three charges including sodomy in the first degree and two counts of sexual abuse of a child less than 12.
Prosecutors agreed to dismiss the sodomy in the first degree charge in exchange of a guilty plea for the two counts of sexual abuse of a child less than 12.
Assistant District Attorney for the 19th Judicial Circuit Brandon Bates told Fuller that both children were “well” under the age of 12.
One of the children was related to Brooks and the other child was not, Bates said told Fuller.
Fuller set Brooks’ sentencing for Nov. 12 at 9 a.m. at the Chilton County Courthouse.
Brooks remains in custody at the Chilton County Jail on a $300,000 bond.
