Authorities are continuing to investigate an incident in Clanton on July 3 when a female pedestrian was struck and killed by a motorist.
Cheryl Eufran Smith Medley, 67, of Clanton, was struck and killed shortly after 4 p.m., according to Chilton County Coroner Awlahjaday Agee.
Agee said Medley was attempting to cross the road when a male driver in a Honda Accord struck Medley on her right side.
Medley was pronounced dead on the scene.
Clanton Police Department Capt. David Clackley said the incident occurred at 4:11 p.m. on Second Ave. S. at Third Street North in Clanton.
Clackley said an 80-year-old Clanton man was traveling on Second Ave. S. when he struck Medley.
“No criminal activity is suspected in this case; and preliminary findings are it was just a terrible accident,” Clackley said. “The driver reported that he saw Medley just prior to impact, but was unable to avoid the collision.”
Details of the incident are still being investigated.
