Mt. Carmel No. 1

We had a wonderful VBS and we praise God for each and every one who attended or had a part as a teacher, helper or worker. We are so thankful for the two souls that were saved and the four dedications. It is a great blessing to see parents and children get excited about serving such an awesome God.

Our morning worship service was opened with songs, praise and prayer. Following our welcome to visitors and friends, Bro. Derrell read a letter from Roger and Nadine Vines, bringing us up to date on their mission work. It is always good to hear from them. Our prayers are with the Vines’ and their mission work.

Bro Derrell’s message for this Sunday was taken from the book of Judges 16:1-20 titled “A Deceived Hear and Its Cost.” It was about Samson and Delilah and how the Lord departed from Samson.

Samson loved a woman in the valley of Sorek whose name was Delilah. She was a Philistine and loved wealth. She would be given 1100 pieces of silver if she would see where Samson strength lay.

Delilah was out-witted three times. First, Samson told her to bind him with seven bowstrings, then with new ropes, and finally, to weave his with a spinning wheel. When none of these worked, Delilah pestered Samson until he was tired to death and revealed that is uncut hair was the secret of his strength. She had his hair cut as he slept on her lap and she gave him to the Philistines.

Samson awoke from his sleep and aid the Lord was departed from him. The Philistines took him and he did grind in the prison house. Samson called unto the Lord and said, “O Lord God, remember me, I pray thee; strengthen me that I may be at one avenged of the Philistines.” Samson took hold of the two middle pillars upon the house, and the house fell upon all the people that were therein. The dead were more than he had slain in his life. His father and brothers took him and buried him.

Sunday night, we held a fifth Sunday singing that was enjoyed by everyone. Thanks to all who had a part in making the singing great, especially to those who sang specials.
