Marvin Junior Cornelius, 84, of Thorsby, passed away on June 12 at his residence.

He was born in Blount County on March 2, 1930, the son of the late Jessie Lee Cornelius and the late Vollie Holland Cornelius.

He was a farmer.

He is survived by his sister, Cora M. Smith of Thorsby; sister, Claire Fay of Rosmand, N.C.; nieces, Donna Cleckley of Jemison, Denise Scott of Jemison and Debra Jones of Clanton; nephews, Dennis Smith of Vidor, Texas, Dewayne Smith of Vidor, Texas and Benson Galloway of Rosmand, N.C.; 13 great-nephews; four great-nieces and a host of great-great nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Frances Cornelius.

Visitation will be held on June 16 from 5-8 p.m. at Ellison Memorial Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held June 17 at 11 a.m. from Calvary Hill Church of God in Jemison with the Rev. Willard Scott and the Rev. Benson Galloway officiating.

Burial will follow the service at 3 p.m. in Mt. Carmel Baptist Cemetery in Blount County.
