Jack Walter Johnson, a resident of Clanton, passed away June 13.

He was born Jan. 1, 1940, to the late Hazel Juanita Glasscock Johnson and to the late Finus C. Johnson.

Our dear Johnson touched many lives and inspired many more with his admiration and strength to keep going no matter what the circumstances.

Through the hard and painful bout with cancer, he shined through everything put in his path by the guidance of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

He was a member of West End Baptist Church in Clanton.

Anytime we asked how dad felt even fighting the cancer he would say, “Any better I couldn’t stand it!”

That phrase was his way of saying everything is in God’s hands and it will be all right.

His greatest achievement was putting “light” in everyone’s lives and homes.

He is survived by his wife, Laura Diane Johnson; siblings, F.C. “Buddy” Johnson Jr. (Othella), Juanita Jean Johnson Dorroh.

He is also survived by his children; Wesley Shawn Davis (Susie), Lisa Ann Johnson, Juanita Ann Johnson (Michael), Jackie Dwayne Mauro, Hazel Diane Summersill (Carl), Brenda Gail Cothron (Bobby), June Marie Mack, Mark Alan Stewart (Tracy) and his 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Our kind thanks goes out to his primary physician Dr. Hirenkumar Jani, and all of the kind doctors and nurses at Shelby Baptist Medical Center who worked so hard to make his stays there comfortable.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. at West End Baptist Church in Clanton with the Rev. Tony Smitherman and Daniel Wilson officiating.

Pallbearers are Mark, Shawn, Dwayne, Michael, Carl and Kevin.

Ushers are Ronald and Ray.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to services on June 15 at West End Baptist Church.

Interment will follow in the Martin Memorial Cemetery in Clanton.

The family requests no flowers but asks that contributions be made to the West End Baptist Church Building Fund.
