The lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer can leave kids with time on their hands and parents looking for opportunities to enrich those hours for their children.

The Chilton County Arts Council is pleased to announce its Summer Art Camp, a series of art classes themed for kids from age 8–17, taught by four of Chilton County’s active local artists.

The classes, scheduled for Thursday afternoons in June and July, will be specifically tailored to the needs and abilities of the students who enroll. It is a rare opportunity for local students to receive art instruction directly from the local masters.

The artists involved are all familiar names on the Alabama art scene: Scarlett Teel, Sue Anne Hoyt, Carolyn Cumbie and Diana Hiott. Each of these accomplished professional artists will offer their perspective and input to each student who enrolls, ensuring a balanced and challenging experience for every individual.

“We are very privileged to have all these wonderful artists available to conduct this class—four for the price of one,” said Hoyt, director of the Chilton County Arts Council’s Rose Gallery.

The classes are scheduled to take place on June 19 and 26, and July 10 and 17, from 2–4 p.m. each day.

There is a $15 charge per student for each class session. In addition, students will be responsible for providing their own supplies. The supply list will be furnished to all interested parties.

To enroll, download the registration form from www.ChiltonCountyArtsCouncil.com or call the Arts Council at (205) 217-3027.
