The Chilton County Arts Council’s Rose Gallery in Clanton will feature an exhibit called “The Artistry of Ballet: Costuming and Props by Artist Anna Curtis” throughout the month of June.

The exhibit concentrates on the costumes and props created by Curtis and other local artists for the Festival Ballet Arts Classical Ballet Conservatory production of “The Sleeping Beauty,” which will take place Saturday, May 31 at the Clanton Conference and Performing Arts Center.

Curtis is the dance instructor at Festival Ballet Arts.

A reception for Curtis and her collection will be held at the Rose Gallery on Saturday, June 7 from 2–4 p.m.

The public is invited to attend and to see these detailed works up close and meet Curtis. Refreshments will be served, and the artist will deliver a short talk.

“The detailing on these handmade pieces is breathtaking,” Rose Gallery director Sue Anne Hoyt said. “We are very excited about this opportunity for everyone to see these inspiring pieces.”

The Rose Gallery is located at the Chilton County Arts Council, 703 Second Ave. N. in downtown Clanton.

The gallery is open for public viewing Thursdays from 1–3 p.m., and Saturdays from 3–5 p.m.
