Charles Durwood Mims, 80, of Thorsby, passed away May 29 at Hatley Health Care in Clanton.

He was born on July 20, 1933, in Chilton County, the son of the late Joseph Lester Mims and the late Ruby Mae Jones.

He was an airplane mechanic.

Surviving are his wife, Faye Mims of Thorsby; son, David (Cindy) Mims of Thorsby; two daughters, Kathy Davenport (Phillip) of Clanton, Debra Waters (Chuck) of Thorsby; grandchildren, Dr. Matthew Mims (Rachel), Melissa Hagood (Jerry); four step-grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends will be received from 10-11 a.m. May 31 at Martin Funeral Home.

Services will be held May 31 at 11 a.m. at Martin Chapel with the Rev. Marc Hodges officiating.

Interment will follow in Thorsby Memorial Cemetery in Thorsby.
