Verbena Trade Day rescheduled for Saturday

Verbena’s Trade Day was so much fun last weekend, the event is being held again this weekend.

Actually, Trade Day is being put on for the second time because many vendors were kept away by inclement weather.

Still, those who attended on May 10 were able to enjoy musical performances and barbecue.

More than 30 vendors were confirmed for the event, but only four set up last weekend.

The event was still held because the musicians were ready to play, Boston butts had been cooked and many attendees showed up.

“We had more of the public show up than the vendors,” organizer Karen Williams said. “It was going to be a big event.”

Organizers hope more vendors are able to make the event on Saturday.

Verbena Trade Day will last from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Magnolia Park, located at 8169 County Road 59.

“We just hope everybody comes out and has a good time,” Williams said.

Vendors will include woodworkers, jewelry and all sorts of arts and crafts, organizer Matt Williams said.

There will be barbecue sandwiches and plates available.

Also, musical groups will perform, and the Verbena Red Devil Regiment Colorguard will perform a “Wizard of Oz” skit.

The skit was first performed Tuesday at the band’s annual concert. It was selected to honor the 75th anniversary of the film.
