James Gilbert Atchison, age 64 of Verbena, passed away on May 10 at Hatley Healthcare in Clanton.

He was born in Chilton county on Aug. 27, 1949, the son of the late Miles Gilbert Atchison and the late Claudia Latham Atchison.

He was a farmer.

He is survived by: sister, Louise (Billy) Oates of Jemison; brother, Donald W. Atchison of Verbena; along with a host of nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by: parents, Miles Gilbert and Claudia L. Atchison; and a brother, Ronald A. Atchison.

Visitation was held on Monday, May 12 from 6–8 p.m. at Ellison Memorial Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 13 at 1 p.m. from the Chapel of Ellison Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. J. Aaron Ellison officiating.

Burial will follow in the Chilton Memorial Gardens in Clanton.

The family request that in lieu of flowers, please contribute toward the funeral expense at the funeral home.
