Four Clanton residents arrested April 26 on drug-related charges were arrested less than two weeks later, again for manufacturing methamphetamine.

Rodney Earl Headley, 44; Cassie Lee Cleckler, 29; William Brian Smitherman, 49; and Barbara Jean Turk, 67, were arrested by Clanton Police on May 6 at their residence, off Tippett Street in Clanton, according to Cpl. David Kline.

Each of the suspects was charged with manufacturing methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia, Kline said.

Police officials are working to have the bond revoked for Headley.

The four suspects listed above, plus two more, were arrested on drug-related charges at the same residence on April 26.

CPD officers responded to the location after reports of drug activity.

Two of the suspects fled upon officers’ arrival but were later apprehended, along with meth precursor chemicals dropped at the edge of the property.

CPD Chief Brian Stilwell said the suspects rent the house they live in, and the fumes produced from the production of meth could cause a danger for anyone living at the residence in the future.

“We have to be seriously concerned about anyone living there,” Stilwell said.

Kline and Stilwell said the number of meth-related cases worked by their department this year is already more than double the total count in 2013.

“It’s a losing battle we’re fighting,” Stilwell said.
