Ruth Helen Jackson, 75, of Jemison, passed away suddenly on April 25 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster.

She was born in Walker County on July 10, 1938, the daughter of the late Marion Alcie Williams and the late Marjorie Ferrell Williams.

She was a former assembly line inspector with Rock-Tenn Box Factory.

She is survived by her son, Joseph Jackson (Jeanne) of Jemison; son, Richard Jackson (Carolyn) of Reserve, La.; grandchild, Janet D’Antoni Sambola (Wayne) of Slidell, La.; grandchild, Thomas Jackson of Demopolis; great-grandchildren, Brittany D’Antoni, Emily Sambola and Suzanna Sambola; brother, Roy Lee Williams of Jasper; sister, Shirley Ann Barnett of Jasper; nephews, Jason (Kelly) Barnett, Shawn Williams, Errice Boutwell, Trae Williams and Troy Williams.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Monroe “Calvin” Jackson Jr.; parents, Alcie “A” Williams and Marjorie Ferrell Williams; brother, Bud Williams and sister, Barbellene Williams.

Visitation will be held April 29 from 5-7 p.m. at Ellison Memorial Funeral Home in Clanton.

Graveside funeral services will be held April 30 at 2 p.m. in the Mt. Zion Baptist Cemetery in Jasper

The body will be in state from noon until service time at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Jasper.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Joe Jackson’s Dog World Inc. 47 County Road 170 in Jemison, 35085.

This is a non-profit organization that was started by her son to rescue canines throughout the southeast.
