Mountain Springs Church
Services started with Bro. Kenneth Moates leading the church in the following hymns: “Leaning on the Everlasting Arms,” “I Wanna Know More About My Lord,” “Heaven’s Jubilee” and “Where the Milk and Honey Flows.”
We had a very special service this morning celebrating Mrs. Myrtle Mim’s 90th birthday. We are so blessed to have such a wonderful lady be a part of our church for so many years. She is an inspiration to everyone and we love her very much. Thanks to everyone who came out to help us celebrate this wonderful event.
We had many special guests for Mrs. Myrtle’s celebration, including Canaanland; our former pastor, Bro. Donald Vanderslice; and Bro. Shane Wyatt.
Bro. Shane Wyatt, Mrs. Myrtle’s grandson, gave the message. He preached from Romans 5:1-11. The only way we can find peace in our lives is if we have Jesus Christ as our Savior. No matter what you’ve done, Jesus has his arms stretched out for you, ready to change your life.
Sunday night’s service began with Bro. Kenneth Moates leading the church in the hymns “When the Saints Go Marching In,” “I’ll Be Satisfied” and “I’m Going that Way.”
Bro. Kenneth gave a devotion from Psalms 28:7. The Lord is a present help in our needs. All we have to do is call on him and he will be there for anything we need.
Bro. Heath Vines preached from 1 Timothy 2:1-4. The Lord still answers our prayers. Before we make any decisions, we always need to pray that we will follow God’s will for our life.
We will have a special singingon March 23 at 5:30 p.m. with special guests Ivan Parker and Canaanland. This will be a wonderful event and you do not want to miss it!

Prayer concerns: Eli Jackson, Nanett Fricke, Billy Caton, David Bullard, Barney Mims, Janet Wyatt, Diane Patterson, our nation’s leaders, and those in the hospitals and nursing homes.
Bro. Stony Barbee’s text came from Matthew 22:1-14 titled “The Wedding Garment.” It was a wonderful message.
We are not judges. We will one day stand before a just God, giving an account of how we have lived our lives for God and being judged on that service. We that sow of the flesh will reap of the flesh; we that sow of the Spirit will reap of the Spirit. There is nothing we do that can make us righteous; it is Jesus living in us. You have a garment to attend the wedding of Christ, the garment of salvation through Jesus Christ.
We need to examine ourselves every day. Many are invited to be saved but people make light of it, try to mock God and pass off the gospel. The word of God has to be preached without compromise. Most preachers today do not preach the true gospel, and do not want to preach the gospel to sinners of the world or anyone they feel is beneath them.
The Bible tells us a delivered prostitute woman washed Jesus’ feet with her tears and dried them with her hair. She was the first to see Jesus after his resurrection and went forth to tell the disciples.
When you ask someone how they are doing, most often they will tell you about their worldly possessions and say they are doing great. When you ask them how they are doing with their salvation, they make light of it and pass it off. In the world of today, some preachers are even preaching that there is more than one way to heaven. There is no other way to be cleansed of your blemishes of sin except through Jesus Christ our Savior.
To feel and speak of self-righteousness is a great down fall. We are to bear good fruit and be able to recognize good fruit from bad fruit. We can only do this through the power Jesus gives us. God is not in the business of sin. God requires us to do all we can do to live our life dedicated to his service.
The simple truth is that not everyone is going to heaven because they will not take on the garment of Christ. You cannot have one foot in the world and one foot in the church. John 14:6 Jesus says, “I am the way, the truth, the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” If we think we can go out into the world, live as we please and still go to heaven, but that is a lie of the devil.
Do not let your testimony be brought down by evil. When we are saved, we are to take on the garment of Christ and be Christ-like. We need to check our garments daily in our walk with Jesus. No one will be able to bypass or make light of the judgment of Christ.
Check your garment today. Are you wearing the garment of Christ? Many are called but few are chosen.
Love to all and have a blessed week.
