Roads throughout Chilton County will be open for travel by 10 a.m. Thursday.

Chilton County Engineer Tony Wearren said Wednesday evening his crews would be out early Thursday morning sanding area bridges.

“I went out and drove around to various places today in the county and the roads were 75 percent good,” Wearren said. “People will still need to be cautious as they drive tomorrow morning because there are still some pretty slick spots but we will be sanding the bridges tomorrow morning.”

Wearren said bridges are the main priority to treat with a mixture of sand and gravel due to bridges not having warm ground underneath to keep them from freezing.

“Temperatures are supposed to go up into the 40s on Thursday so I think the roads should be fine by tomorrow,” Wearren said.

The Chilton County Courthouse will be opening at 11 a.m. on Thursday.
