Benjamin Leverne Clark

Benjamin Leverne “Benny” Clark, 88, of Clanton, passed away Jan. 24 at the Golden Living Center in Montgomery.
He was born in Clanton on May 13, 1925, the son of the late Benjamin “Ben” Clark and the late Alma Thomas Clark.
He was a retired truck driver.
He honorably served his country in the United States Navy during World War II.
He was also a member of West End Baptist Church in Clanton.
He is survived by his wife, Inez Clark of Clanton; son, Larry Clark (Lynn) of Bishop, Calif.; son, Darrell Clark (Kay) of Clanton; daughter, Denise Powell of Clanton; daughter, Donna Ellison (Raymond) of Jemison; daughter, Retta Maizon (Andreas) of Searcy, Ark.; daughter, Pam Hyder (Wasim) of Frisco, Texas; 20 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brother, Carlton Clark (Agnes) of Clanton and sister, Edna Hay (Charles) of Clanton; along with a host of nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, along with his son, Dwayne Lamb; brother, James Clark; sister, Sarah Ainsworth and sister, Dot Harris.
Visitation will be held Jan. 27 from 6-8 p.m. at the West End Baptist Church in Clanton.
Funeral services will be held Jan. 28 at 11 a.m. from West End Baptist Church with the Rev. Daniel Wilson officiating.
A graveside service with military honors will follow the service at 2 p.m. in the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to West End Baptist Church Building Fund; 2007 Second Ave. N. Clanton, AL 35045.
