Teresa Joanne Schu Thornell

Teresa Joanne Schu Thornell, 53, of Clanton, passed away on Jan. 15 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster.

She was born in Birmingham on Dec. 30, 1961, the daughter of the late Joseph Francis Schu and the late Paula Pyle Schu.

She was an artist and nurturing mother to everyone she met.

She always made everyone around her laugh and smile with her unique infectious personality.

She shared the immense love in her heart with everyone, regardless of what anyone else thought. Her passing has left a huge void in the lives of those she so elegantly graced with her kind and gentle spirit.

She is survived by her loving husband, Phillip Robbins Thornell Jr.; children, Jacqueline Kristen Schu, Angela Miranda Robbins Thornell, Phillip Robbins Thornell III and Alicia Elnora Baker; sisters, Jacqueline Schu, Angie Sides, Carla Perez (Margarito) and Cindi Price (Roger); “Mammaw” Morene Perkins; in-laws, Phillip R. Sr. and Cheryl A. Thornell; sister-in-law, Rachel Crouse (Dewayne) and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and “adopted” family friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents along with her sister, Jeanna Schu; uncle, Joe Tillery and “Poppaw” Paul Perkins.

A visitation will be held Jan. 25 from noon-2 p.m. at the Ellison-Cleckler Funeral Home.
