The second annual Industry Appreciation Night will be held at the Clanton Performing Arts Center at Jefferson State Community College’s Chilton-Clanton Campus on Jan. 28.

Fred Crawford with the Chilton County Industrial Development Board said the main purpose of the event is to say “thank you” to the industries that risk their capital and come up with plans to market and produce goods throughout the county.

“These industries bring about employment, sales tax and good quality of life in Chilton County,” Crawford said. “So often in society we do not tell people thank you for what they do, and this event is a good time to do that.”

In 2013, the theme of the first Industry Appreciation Night was highlighting the arts, education and recreation in Chilton County, but Crawford said this year would highlight the development taking place throughout the county.

The event will include a reception at 6:30 p.m. and a program at 7 p.m.

“We will have Judge Sibley Reynolds speaking about the hospital, an update from Chilton County Airport Authority board member Billy Singleton, who will speak about the airport, and I will speak on the two industrial parks in the county,” Crawford said.

Crawford said the Jemison High School Band will also perform.

“We will give plaques to industries that do exporting and to those who have expanded jobs and invested in equipment and facilities,” Crawford said. “That is a small way for us to say thank you. We invite the whole county to come out.”

Parking and entrance to the event is near the back portion of the campus.
