Care Net Pregnancy Resource Center of Chilton County will host the ninth annual fundraising banquet Oct. 10 in Clanton.

The event will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Clanton First United Methodist Church with this year’s theme focusing on “Speak Up!”

Care Net Executive Director Susan Scott said the theme was selected from the Bible verse Proverbs 31:8-9 which encourages individuals to speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves.

“That is generally what our organization is all about so we thought it would be a good theme for this year,” Scott said.

Care Net is a non-profit organization that provides counseling and medical services to women affected by unplanned pregnancies.

Care Net’s mission is to provide assistance, education and encouragement to women, men and youth regarding abstinence, pregnancy and post-abortion issues.

Scott said the response for this year’s banquet has been overwhelming with event organizers hoping the church will accommodate those expected to attend.

“God has this,” Scott said. “We are very encouraged to have such a wonderful response this year and I know everything will work out.”

The event is free, and the keynote speaker this year will be Jason Mann, Director of Outreach at Women’s Care Medical Center in Robertsdale.

Scott said several board members met Mann at a youth conference in Mobile and found out he had been active in the pro-life ministry for 15 years.

The new addition to this year’s banquet will include Tommy Glasscock who will have a comedic live auction.

“The auction is going to be a lot of fun because [Glasscock] knows what will bring the highest dollar,” Scott said. “We will have a Nick Saban signed football to be auctioned off so that will be exciting.”

Anyone interested in sponsoring the banquet, or contributing to the silent auction should call (205) 755-6767 or email banquet@carenetchilton.org.

Proceeds from the banquet along with other donations throughout the year fund Care Net’s pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, Bibles and Earn While You Learn class materials.
