Mt. Carmel No. 1

God is so good! Our VBS days were awesome and the Lord blessed us with an enrollment of 114, one profession of faith and an average attendance of over 84 people over the five-day school period. Our thanks to the churches of our association who shared their materials and equipment with us and prayed for our VBS.

Our hearts are deeply saddened this week by the death of a precious member of our congregation, Mrs. Jean Foshee. Our sympathy goes out to her son, Michael. As you pray this week, remember his and the sisters, nieces and nephews of Jean.

Before our morning message, Charity Lockhart blessed our hearts with a beautiful song titled “Angel By Your Side.”

Bro. Derrell’s message was taken from Luke 10-30-37 titled “ Three Characteristics We See in the Church Today.” God desires to dwell among his people.

The first characteristic is selfishness. We are to die to self. We need to serve God, not self. The Bible tells of a certain man who fell among thieves. They stripped him and wounded him. The priest passed him and missed a chance to witness to him.

The second characteristic is curiosity. The Levite knew what he was supposed to do, but looked on him and passed by on the other side.

The third characteristic is compassion. The Samaritan had compassion, true Christianity. We need true Christianity in our church.

Thanks to everybody who had a part in helping the youth with their car wash on Saturday.

Homecoming will be July 28. Guests, To the End, will be singing at 10 a.m. We will have worship service with Bro. Larry Patterson, our guest speaker, then more singing. Lunch will be served following the service. You are invited.

There will be no evening service this Sunday.

Due to the death and funeral of one of our church members on Sunday afternoon, we at Mt. Carmel are so sorry we did not get to attend the Fifth Sunday Night Singing with Mulberry Church. We hope and pray we can plan this for another date.

We are thankful for all our prayer warriors as they pray daily for our sick and shut-ins. May God heal, strengthen and keep them in his care.

Bro. Cleve Mallory welcomed everyone and gave ministry opportunities. Special music by the Celebration Choir and congregation was “Here Am I, Send Me.”

The message by Jack Spinks was from Acts 3:1-10 titled “Getting Excited About the Things of God.”

Ryan Kirkland gave the evening message.

Wednesday night service: Prayer meeting at 6:30 p.m., Team Kids for children and Student’s Outlet.

Happy Fourth of July and Happy Birthday to those having birthdays this week.

Pray for Bruce Moore, Hunter Moore, Nina Goode, Lilliana Thompson, the Crawford family, the Hunt family’s adoption, Taylor Barnes, Elridge Townsend, Susan Harrison, Tyler Barnes, Bridges of Faith Mission Team in Ukraine, Charles and Randy Bryant, George and Diana Williams, Sid Griner, Bro. Charles Brooks and our pastor search committee.
