James Nelson “Jim” Dennis, 71, passed away peacefully at his home in Fernandina Beach, Fla. on July 22.
He was a graduate of Auburn University where he earned his bachelor degree in mechanical engineering.
After graduating from Auburn University, Dennis spent 30 years working in the pulp and paper industry.
He was an avid Auburn football fan, enjoyed hunting, fishing and life in general.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Fernandina Beach, Fla.
He was predeceased by his loving daughter, Robin Lynn Dennis; parents, James and Frances Dennis and brother, Robert Michael Dennis.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 52 years, Lavoy Robinson Dennis; daughter, Donna Louise Dallas (Tony); granddaughters, Annie Frances Dallas, Carlyn Robinson Bridges and Samantha Louise Bridges; sisters-in-law, Peggy Robinson Kirby, Annette Robinson Walker, brother-in-law, John W. Walker and nephews and nieces he loved as his own.
He will be missed by his loving caregivers, Deann and Bradly Loum and Donna Howarter.
Local visitation for all his wonderful friends will be July 24 from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. at the Oxley-Heard Funeral Home, 1305 Atlantic Avenue, Fernandina Beach, FL.
Graveside services will be held on July 26 at 1 p.m. at Chilton Memorial Gardens in Clanton. His family will receive friends at Martin Funeral Home in Clanton on July 26 from noon until time to leave for the cemetery.
