Board approves new employees Tuesday (updated)

The board also made the following decisions:
•Approved payrolls for June 2013 and monthly financial statement and bank reconciliations of the Central Office for June 2013 as presented by Chief Financial Officer Steve Yeargan.
•Approved holding the first budget meeting Thursday, Sept. 5 at 4:30 p.m. and the final budget meeting during the board’s regular meeting Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 4:30 p.m.
•Approved Sammy Wilson Plumbing to fulfill the school system’s plumbing contract for $5,470.
•Approved entering into an agreement with The University of Alabama to allow eligible Chilton County students to complete dual enrollment courses online through the university.
•Approved scheduling a program called Freedom Forum (with Pete McCoy) to be held at Chilton County High for ninth and 10th grade students on Sept. 17 for $1,000.
•Permitted Jefferson State Community College to use a school bus in July for a safety training exercise at the Chilton-Clanton Center.
•Approved premium payment of $613.61 to CAN Surety for an employee blanket bond.
•Granted a request from CCHS for Ray Sosa, chaperones Debra Sosa and Kelli Crumpton and DECA students to travel to Washington, D.C. and New York City for the 2013 DECA New York Experience Conference from Dec. 2–8.
•Approved the following assignment changes for gifted personnel effective in the 2013–2014 school year: Hilary McKinney, .75 unit at JES and .25 unit at Thorsby; Stacey Pierce, .60 unit at JMS, .20 unit at Isabella and .20 unit at Maplesville; and Tammy Price, .50 unit at CIS, .20 unit at CES and .30 unit at CMS.
•Approved the job description for a network/IT specialist position and to post the position.
•Approved hiring an architect and requesting bids on a new metal roof for Chilton County High School (in response to Maintenance Supervisor Wayne Howell) because of roof leaks.
•Approved posting vacancies and substitutes for the 2013–2014 school year.
