Lions Club names new officers at year-end banquet

Hollis Jackson was named the Clanton Lions Club Member of the Year at the club’s annual year-end dinner July 11 at Alabama Power Company in Clanton.
Jackson served as the 2012–2013 president during what member Tony Hughes, who presented the award, described as a “transitional period” for the club in terms of membership.

Donny Martin, a member of the club for more than 50 years, received a pin for perfect attendance this year.
Member Bob Stone installed the 2013–2014 officers: Tyson Elrod, president; Tommy Patterson, first vice president; Shane Headley, second vice president; Emily Beckett, third vice president; Renee Green, secretary; Britt Culpepper, treasurer; Josh Inman, Tail Twister; and Benji Abbott, Lion Tamer.
Also installed were directors: Hollis Jackson, chairman of the board; Larry Culpepper, two years; Jim Norton, two years; Tony Hughes, one year; and Donny Martin, one year.
Hughes gave the devotional, and member Lisa Abbott sang.
Member Amy Trentman recognized the 2013 Peach Queens and growers who contributed to this year’s Peach Auction.
