Schools to hold kindergarten registration this week

Kindergarten registration at Chilton County Schools started Monday and will continue through Friday for the 2013–2014 school year.

•At Jemison Elementary, children 5 years old on or before Sept. 2 are eligible to attend kindergarten.

Parents or legal guardians can register their child Tuesday–Friday and may bring the child’s certified birth certificate; original, unexpired Alabama Certificate of Immunization; Social Security card; and proof of residence, such as a utility bill or lease agreement showing name and address, to the school.

Jemison Elementary will need a copy of custody or guardianship papers, if applicable.

If the aforementioned papers are not available during this week, parents or legal guardians can register their child with the papers they do have and return the others later.

The school will provide a packet of registration forms for parents to complete.

Registration will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday and 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday–Friday.

Children are not required to accompany parents to registration, but they will need to come to the school over the summer for a brief assessment. The date and time of the assessment will be determined at registration.

•At Verbena, kindergarten registration will take place at the Verbena Annex office from 8:30–10:30 a.m. and 12–2 p.m. Tuesday–Friday.

Children who are 5 years old on or before Sept. 2 are eligible to register.

Any parents who are unable to attend during one of the scheduled registration times can call the Annex at (205) 755-0248 this week for information about picking up a packet.

The following paperwork is required to enroll a child: certified birth certificate; original, unexpired Alabama Certificate of Immunization; Social Security card; and proof of residence, such as a utility bill or lease agreement showing name and address.

A parent or legal guardian with proper documentation must enroll a student.

•At Maplesville, registration will be held Tuesday–Friday from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Students may also be registered on Thursday, April 25 from 5–7 p.m.

Documents needed for registration are: a certified birth certificate, Social Security card, shot records and proof of residence in Chilton County.

If all documents are not available during registration week, parents should bring the documents available to registration and turn in the remaining documents later.

•At Thorsby, registration will be held during school hours each day through Friday, from 7:50 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Parents or legal guardians should bring their child’s certified birth certificate, blue slip, Social Security card and proof of residence.

Custody or guardianship papers, if applicable, need to be presented at registration as well.

•At Clanton Elementary, registration will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday–Friday.

Parents or legal guardians need to bring their child’s certified birth certificate, Social Security card, shot record and proof of residence.

•At Isabella, registration will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday–Friday.

Parents or legal guardians need to bring all necessary forms, including birth certificate, Social Security card and proof of residence.

•At Chilton Christian Academy, kindergarten registration for the 2013–2014 school year will be held through the summer.

Children 5 years old by August are eligible to attend.

Parents or legal guardians may register children from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the school, and they should bring a certified birth certificate and blue slip.
