Arrests made in Thorsby kidnapping case (updated)

Two Moulton men have been arrested in connection with a home invasion, robbery and kidnapping in Thorsby on Easter Sunday.

Scotty Ray Smith and Panagiotis Jerome Theodoroy, both 33 and residents of Moulton, were arrested Tuesday by Alabama Bureau of Investigation agents with help from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department, according to a press release provided by sheriff Gene Mitchell.

According to the release, evidence was found linking the suspects to the crimes, which occurred at two different Thorsby residences.

Thorsby Police Chief Rodney Barnett confirmed the arrests were related to the cases in Thorsby on Sunday.

As of early Tuesday afternoon, Barnett said Smith was being held in Chilton County Jail, while Theodorou was being transported to the jail by a Thorsby police officer.
