Maplesville pitcher hurls no-hitter

Maplesville began baseball area play on Tuesday with Colby Chambers tossing a no-hitter in an 11-0, five-inning win over Ellwood Christian.
Chambers struck out eight batters and missed recording a perfect game by issuing one walk.
Chambers helped himself at the plate, going 3-for-3 with three runs scored and one run batted in for the Red Devils (6-4 overall).
Gus Walker went 2-for-3 at the plate with two doubles. Brady Gilliland went 1-for-1 with two walks and two RBI.
Trent Smitherman, Brett Walker and Zach Bush each had hits in the game. Bush’s was a double, and he scored two runs. Smitherman and Brett Walker each scored one run and drove in one run.
The Devils play Ellwood again Friday in another area game.
