Knight, Watley excel for Chilton County golf team

Chilton County’s golf team finished 10th in the West Alabama Classic on March 4-5 at Ol’ Colony golf course in Tuscaloosa.
The 18-team field featured some of the top teams in the state, including 12 Class 6A teams.
Chilton’s Forrest Knight shot 155 to finish second in the field of more than 100 players after tying with Spain Park’s Patrick Martin and losing on the second hole of sudden-death playoff.
Cole Watley shot a 173 for CCHS, Jordan Lightsey shot 174, Curt Bost shot 190 and Trey Baker had a 209.
CCHS defeated Benjamin Russell and Tallassee in a tri-match on March 12. CCHS shot a 321, Ben Russell a 371 and Tallassee a 386.
CCHS was lead by Knight’s 68. Lightsey and Watley shot 79, Madison Sanders shot 95, Caloub Baker shot 97 and Cole Headley shot 99.
During a practice round on March 10, Watley, a freshman, had a hole-in-one on the eighth hole at the Auburn University course.
The shot was 186 yards uphill into the wind, and Watley was using his 3-wood.
