The Chilton County Volunteer Firefighter’s Association (CCVFA) and LifeSaver Helicopter will host a landing zone class on Jan. 31 at 6:30 p.m.

The class will be held at the Jemison Municipal Complex and open to anyone involved in public safety to learn tips on helping air ambulance crews once they land on the ground.

Public information officer for the CCVFA Avery Dale said the class will allow the helicopter crews to go over different things that will enable an emergency situation to go smoothly.

“The class will be a time for all public safety officials such as firefighters, law enforcement, 911 dispatchers and emergency medical teams to listen to topics needed for establishing an emergency landing zone for air ambulances,” Dale said. “We hope the class will be a good opportunity to establish better communication from public safety officials and those involved in air safety.”

Dale said the course is free of charge but those interested in attending are asked to contact Jemison Fire Chief John Dennis at jdennis@jemisonalabama.org or North Chilton Fire Chief Jason Scott at jggscott@centurytel.net.
