Chilton County rallies but can’t catch up to Homewood

A late Chilton County rally came up short Friday and ended with a 17-14 loss to Homewood in both teams’ region openers.
Homewood took a 7-0 lead into halftime of a sloppy, defensive battle, but Myric Good returned an interception 46 yards to set up a 4-yard touchdown run by Michael Seaton to begin scoring in the second half.
The point-after attempt was blocked, and Homewood ran back the ensuing kickoff 90 yards for a score.
A Homewood field goal with 9:07 left to play put CCHS behind the 8-ball, but the Tigers responded with a 71-yard drive that was concluded with a 1-yard Seaton run. Chance Britnell hit Austin Rossi for the 2-point conversion to pull Chilton to within a field goal, but the Tigers (1-1) couldn’t score again.
CCHS hosts Shelby County next week.
