Taking it in: Players watched from the sidelines and fans watched from the stands Thursday as Thorsby competed in a preseason football jamboree.

It might as well be fall.

Leaves aren’t turning yet, but local high school football teams took the field Thursday night, signaling the changing of the seasons.

Chilton County High School and West Blocton played a preseason jamboree at Thorsby.

The host Rebels took the field first against West Blocton and couldn’t contain their guests’ powerful running game, falling 28-0 in the time allotted, which equaled one half of a regulation game.

Both starters and reserves were given ample playing time.

West Blocton ran into a wall in their second game, however, as Chilton County was ahead at press time, 14-0, after one quarter of play.

Michael Seaton and Austin Dennis—on a pass from Chance Britnell—scored for the Tigers.

CCHS and Thorsby were scheduled to play in the third session of the night.

On Friday night, Jemison hosts Tallassee, Maplesville hosts Leeds, and Verbena visits Central-Coosa. All exhibition games will begin at 7 p.m.

Teams begin regular season play next week.
