No injuries were reported at a fire that started at Headco fuel station near Interstate 65 Exit 212 on Thursday afternoon.

Clanton firefighters responded to the call at about 4:05 p.m. and were able to put the fire out in about 10 minutes, according to Fire Chief David Driver.

Driver said the fire, which was accidental, started from a spark from where a man was pumping fuel into cans in the back of his pickup truck.

β€œ(The fire) never made it inside the building,” Driver said, adding that everyone inside the store evacuated immediately. β€œIt got the awning pretty bad.”

The fire also burned the truck where the spark started, totaled a pickup truck on the other side of that fuel pump, burned the fuel pump itself and damaged the front of the store, cracking all of the windows, Driver said.
